Charta is a festival of contemporary photography, dedicated to the photobook and to independent publishing. The festival provides for a visual itinerary in which a theme is developed through photobook exhibitions, by creating an expository tour in different locations in the heart of San Lorenzo, the Roman art district.

The theme for this first edition, “Demons”, aims to investigate all the darkest aspects of the human condition, from the territorial to the socio-cultural and psychological issues, through 100 photobooks exhibited in five different shows. Each exhibition hosts a chapter of 8814, an experimental, dystopian, and surreal web series created by Luca Baioni. In addition, an itinerant exhibition titled Mojo inhabits the spaces of the festival.

Besides the photobook exhibitions, the festival provides for a rich program of events: editorial previews, workshops, installations, exhibitions, portfolio reviews with some of the most important editorial realities of the international field, and a bookshop.
