CRITERIA
Rabo Photographic Portrait Prize 2021
Portraits should be taken between June 1, 2020 and May 16, 2021 by a Dutch photographer or an international photographer who has been working in the Netherlands for a longer period of time. All nominated photographers must have built up a striking and constant oeuvre within portrait photography. An important criterion is that in the portrait the short-lived and conscious relationship between photographer and sitter is recognizable in a special way. In addition, craftsmanship, technique and composition can play a role in the assessment. A maximum of three portraits can be submitted in this category.
Rabo Photographic Portrait Talent 2021
Portraits should be taken between June 1, 2020 and May 16, 2021 by photography students or photographers who have graduated from a Dutch photography course. Self-taught professionals can also compete within this category. Entrants have not been professionally engaged in photography for more than five years, or are under 30 years old at the time of submission. The submitted work, a minimum of three and a maximum of five portraits, should have been made as a series.
JURY
The jury will select a long list of approximately 25 portraits from all entries for the Rabo Photographic Portrait Prize. From this, the jury compiles a shortlist of 5 portraits.
