According to Dutch photographer Bastiaan Woudt (1987) “Black and white photography is pure and doesn’t distract”. In this selection of recent work, containing single images all produced in 2015, he constructs stark photos with a certain kind of focus and eye for detail. Each of his images presents the subject as the centre of attention, photographed against a plain background, with little to no detail in the surroundings to distract away from them.
Woudt strives to make every image “a piece of art”. By often not showing the full body or face of his models and using digital post processing to replicate experimental surrealistic techniques like solarisation, Woudt has taken a more abstract approach to photographing the human form and everyday objects.
