Japanese photographer Yuichi Ikehata (b. 1975) creates pictures to express the border between reality and fiction. In An Observer’s Report the photographer tells the story of a character that wanders in the boundary of these two worlds. In the creative process of his work Ikehata builds sculptures that he customises for each of his images and merges them later with pictures of his own body. Ikehata believes that we are living in moments in which reality continuously merges with a fictitious version of it. ”The relationship between reality and fiction is such an intimate one that it is not possible to distinguish between which is which at times” says Ikehata about his series.
