The brand-new biennial Bristol Photo Festival takes the theme ‘A Sense of Place’, inviting local and international photographers to interpret what ‘place’ – whether in a physical, metaphorical or cultural sense – means to them. Solo and group exhibitions by James Barnor, Chloe Dewe Mathews and Sarah Waiswa, among others, are taking place across the city at a variety of venues. ‘With/in’ is an exhibition of photography created in collaboration with Firefly, an organisation supporting women and non-binary photographers. There’s also an extensive outreach programme with talks, events and workshops encouraging engagement with the arts in local schools and communities. The festival’s activities and exhibitions continues until December.
