CREDITS
The 10th edition of the annual Belfast Photo Festival centers around the theme of Future(s), with artists invited to address a wide range of approaches to the idea of futurity and speculative futures. Many works deal with the very pressing concerns of a post-pandemic future, examining the growing human impact upon the earth’s ecosystems in the anthropogenic era, as well as increasingly relevant socio-cultural issues spanning from feminist and queer futures, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the various other protest movements that have recently emerged; underpinning all of this, is the overarching theme of the future of the photographic medium, and its place in documenting all of the environmental, cultural and social issues we are facing as a society. In keeping with the theme, this year’s festival will strongly focus upon community building, and the importance of activism in shaping the future.
